Engagement scope

What we take on

Engagements focus on database design and query optimization inside existing products: logical models, indexing plans, migration sequencing, and SQL rewrites tied to measurable latency or cost goals.

Typical starting points include:

  • A single critical query or report that breaches SLA during peak load
  • Schema drift after feature launches (nullable columns, polymorphic associations, missing constraints)
  • Index sprawl or missing covering indexes surfaced by monitoring
  • Partitioning or archiving decisions before row counts block maintenance windows

What we do not list as catalog products

There are no pre-priced “starter packs” on this site. Commercial terms, duration, and deliverable format are proposed in writing after your inquiry, when we know engine family, approximate data size, and your deployment constraints.

Deliverable shapes (examples)

Depending on scope, you may receive:

  1. Annotated DDL recommendations — proposed changes with rollback notes
  2. Index change list — create/drop statements ordered by risk
  3. Query rewrite brief — before/after SQL with expected plan differences
  4. Workshop notes — decisions your team can replay without us on the call

Optional implementation pairing is billed separately when you want hands-on support during cutover.

Access & confidentiality

We prefer read-only exports (SHOW CREATE, anonymized slow logs, EXPLAIN captures). Credentials, if ever required, should be time-limited and revoked after the engagement. We do not resell or publish your schemas.
